Top issues during term (9)(Water Utilities)
Yard waste collection reduced to every other week
Ending grass collection cuts disposal tonnage and fuel costs, helping the program recover its full cost; extra carts will carry a monthly per-cart fee.
Utility billing errors for Cycle 2 customers
No specific dollar figures were published with the agenda.
Iron Gate sewer connection costs
Residents face roughly $4,000 per connection to attach to the new line.
Big Branch 2 regional sewer pump station
$17.53 million, funded through the 2023-2024 CIP, with $1.1 million saved through value engineering.
Modernizing the 1995 customer service policy
New rules could affect how much uncollected debt the town carries and recovery costs.
Detached Garage Electric Rates
Lowers electric bills for homeowners with separately metered detached garages.
Sanitary sewer collection system assessment
Study was fully reimbursed by the grant ($371,000 spent); future replacement costs peak around 2045-2090.
Electric meter replacement program
Data center water and wastewater capacity constraints
Expanding Western Wake or buying more capacity from Cary could require bonds or revenue financing, potentially passed to a large user through agreements — but the cost to ratepayers if a user walks away is a real risk.
