Civic issues
Topics getting the most attention in Apex public meetings, ranked by how frequently they come up.
KidsTowne Playground replacement
The beloved 27-year-old community-built wooden playground at Kelly Road Park is structurally failing and will be replaced, with ADA-compliant shelter and restroom renovations. Residents overwhelmingly want nature-inspired play, shade, and the same imaginative feel.
Hunter Street Bike Park scope and cost growth
The bike park behind the Hunter Street ballfield is getting bigger — stacked jump towers, lighting, water, and ADA parking — and slightly over its original budget. Staff plan to cover the gap by reallocating leftover money from recent under-budget park projects, not by asking for new money.
Veterans Memorial Center Proposal
American Legion Post 124 members asked the town to provide land and infrastructure for a self-sustaining veterans and community event center, possibly on the Hughes Street site the town recently purchased, and asked for a council committee to explore it.
