2026 Christmas Parade planning
The parade returns downtown this year with a sponsor boosting nonprofit giving and WRAL coverage; construction may narrow the route to one lane, requiring up to four floats to divert.
Haddon Hall Greenway feasibility and greenway prioritization
The Haddon Hall greenway feasibility study found a tough alignment — five stream crossings, switchbacks, retaining walls — costing $4.5–6 million, and it scores poorly in the town's prioritization matrix. Despite ~80% neighborhood support, staff say it won't get construction funding anytime soon.
Parks and Recreation tennis awards
Apex Parks and Recreation won two USTA Outstanding Parks and Recreation Department awards — regional and state — for making tennis accessible to all, including wheelchair and adaptive players.
