Salem Streetscape delay hits downtown businesses
The annual Christmas parade may be affected by downtown construction: if only one lane is open, oversized floats can't fit. Staff favor planning for a traditional parade with a modified fallback via Saunders Street, but insurance and liability questions with the active construction contractor are unresolved.
NC Children's Hospital MOU
The council formalized its $13 million, 20-year commitment to the $3 billion children's hospital coming to Apex — a 500-bed pediatric campus expected to bring roughly 8,000 direct jobs and major spin-off development.
Lack of large tracts for business recruitment
A recurring theme: Apex has almost no large parcels of raw land available for sale, so big advanced-manufacturing and life-science projects go to neighbors like Holly Springs. Preparing sites ahead of demand was flagged as a key need.
